X is rolling out support for 4K video uploads

Date:

X is now allowing select creators to upload videos in 4K resolution as it seeks to boost engagement and keep users from leaving to YouTube or Vimeo to watch videos. The feature will be available to all premium subscribers soon, according to a post by X’s engineering account.

Until now, paying subscribers could upload 1080p videos up to 8GB in size and roughly three hours in length, according to X’s support page. But with support for 4K resolution uploads incoming, the platform might change the size limit for subscribers.

X has been trying to entice users to post more video content ever since Elon Musk bought the company, gradually increasing the upload limit for subscribers.

The platform also rolled out a dedicated feed for vertical videos, replete with a shortcut on the home page of its mobile apps, earlier this year, trying to capitalize on the uncertainty around TikTok’s ban in the U.S.
